April Poem

Pond

There is a spot at the Garden Gate
Of which we're very fond
With life abounding here of late -
It is of course our pond.

This Winter was not cold enough
To cover it with ice;
Disturbed a little by a puff
Of wind - effect is "nice".

Surrounded by a wooden fence
And verge for several plants
To lean and watch when we are tense
And merge into a trance.

And then, behold! It's feeding time
for fish both black and gold
Emerged in Spring from Winter clime
Survived the Winter's cold.

Our recent Open Day was a roaring success with over 600 quid taken on the day.
Big thanks to everyone who came along...

As usual there were refreshments aplenty...

As well as Art Cakes...

Which somebody seemed to enjoy...

We had a slightly scary performance poet...

And we built a lion...

Our next Open Day will be May 24th with lots of plants for sale - details coming soon...

A bright and sunny start - the month of March
It's time for buds to form on spruce and larch
The birds that soar and glide look out for food
And seagulls with their calls enhance the mood
The mornings cool and brisk - they promise much
If coming season could be full of such.
We humans fill the space with loud machines,
Electric tools and trains and other means,
Improving the surroundings our desire;
The action is dynamic, 'till we tire.
